Comité Régionale AURA USEP

The Usep - Union Sportive De L'enseignement Du Premier Degré contributes to the sports and civic training of all children in public primary schools for a humanist, secular and united society. It is divided in regional and local committees, one of them is the Comité Régional Auvergne Rhône Alpes, partner of this project. CRUSEP AURA main objectives are:
• Generating sports and associative physical activity which develops physical, social and civic skills associated with know-how and interpersonal skills;
• Creating an environment favorable to physical, sporting and associative practice (accessibility, cost, activities ...) which facilitates the active behavior of young people;
• Developing a common culture of promotion of physical activity to promote the engagement of young people in an associative framework while respecting humanist and fraternal values;
• Approaching secularism as much as an topic of education.

The main focus is the organization of sports initiatives between the different school departments of Auvergne Rhône Alpes. Activities range from:
• Organization of the event “Chemins de la Memoire” since 2005 (on which the project is based);
• Training of animators throughout the CRUSEP AURA network;
• Publication of documentation;
• Work in partnership with other sports federations and other cultural or memorial associations as part of a project aimed at educating our future citizens.

Since 1988, the Comité régional Auvergne Rhône Alpes de USEP – also called CRUSEP AURA has organized each year in June with the Departmental Council of Haute Savoie the Rando- Glières event which consists of bringing together 500 children from the department over 4 days, i.e. 2,000 children from CM1 and CM2 schools (aged 9 to 11 years old) on the Plateau des Glières, a center of resistance in Haute-Savoie. This event allows children to walk the paths used by the resistance fighters: all the classes reach the plateau on foot from the valley. A historical work with the association Glières is organized upstream in the school s and associations.

Beyond the historical aspect, a didactic path is always implemented at the level of reflection on the values of the Republic: Liberty, Equality and Fraternity, but also on education for Peace and its best tool after the second world conflict: the birth of the European Union. The base of this events is the hiking activity and urban trekking, where bio-diversity, landscape reading, respect for the environment is also mentioned and transmitted to the pupils.

At the same time, CRUSEP, in conjunction with URFOL Rhône Alpes, a short movie capturing testimonies in the classes of the last direct witnesses of the Second World War. This film was produced and finalized in 2015 and then widely distributed in classes in the CRUSEP AURA network.
