UISP Ciriè Settimo Chivasso

UISP (Italian Union of Sport For All) is the Sports Promotion Agency that aims to extend the right to sport to all citizens. Sport for all is something that affects health, quality of life, education and sociability. As such it is worthy of recognition and public protection. The organization is composed by a national committee, which then branches out into regional and territorial committees all with their own autonomy, but which always follows the fundamental principles of inclusion and sport for all to reach the greatest number of people.

The Territorial Committee UISP Ciriè Settimo Chivasso (later referred as UISPCSC) unites around 11.000 people, and 150 affiliated sports clubs, present throughout the territory north of Turin: Ciriè, Lanzo, Robassomero, Borgaro, Leinì, Volpiano, Settimo, Brandizzo, Chivasso, for a total of about 100 municipalities. International projects are carried out with partner associations in France, Romania, Bulgaria, Latvia, Turkey, Slovakia, Hungary, Portugal and Greece.

The most recent project that deals with children, funded by the European Commission is SPRINT – Sport for Inclusion and Tolerance, that studied the participation in sport of children with disabilities or in residential care. The project has hosted different sporting activities aimed at primary school children coming from disadvantaged background, a study that was published in a manual of good practices and different video output.

After the termination of the EU funding, the project continued in different formats, and still does now. UISP CSC has been involved for years in projects with kindergartens, primary schools, lower and middle schools, focusing on national and territorial campaigns against obesity and sedentariness, doping, abuse of drugs and supplements and in favour of movement and sport for everyone. In this last year the Territorial Committee is carrying out experimental projects in playrooms, nurseries and baby parking and post-school projects in primary schools. A The projects are mainly implemented in the gym, alternating moments of play with didactic moments, always assisted by the game. The game is in fact a main element of our projects hat is used to transfer knowledge and to integrate the group of children.

The projects are carried out by educators and instructors. Particular attention has always been given to physical activity in the open air, to the theme of respect for the environment and to the education of children for active citizenship. UISP CSC has a dense network of contacts with local stakeholders: municipal administrations, schools and local organizations. This network will be exploited to raise awareness among stakeholders on the theme of the project and dissaminate it
