VALUES -Introduction-

In July 2021, Committee UISP Ciriè Settimo Chivasso participated in an interesting seminar entitled "The Paths of Memory - A journey between school and civil society" organized by the Regional Association UISP-USEP Alpes-Méditerranée of which the Committee makes part. The meeting, which lasted four days, was an opportunity for discussion on a particular theme: combining sporting activity with history and culture, especially with the story of the Resistance. Is it possible to unite two worlds, which seem so distant from each other? Based on the experience that has been carried out for years at a national level by the CRUSEP AURA association - Comité Régional Union Sportive de l'Enseignement du Premier degrè, Auvergne Rhône Alpes - which uses physical activity as both a historical and respectful educational tool. for the environment. On the basis of this experience, the VALUES project was created - enVironmentAL and historical edUcation in Europe throug Sport, i.e. Environmental and historical education in Europe through Sport - which envisages that, during the entire school year, moments of hiking and urban trekking in the places of memory of the partner countries involved. A journey that serves to develop not only motor skills, but also transversal skills such as critical observation and thinking, the desire to learn, logical and research thinking, which involves both students and teachers and which touches Italy, France and Spain.
The realities involved in VALUES are in fact the Regional Association UISP-USEP Alpes-Méditerranée as leader and the UISP Committee Ciriè Settimo Chivasso, the French Comité Régionale AURA USEP and the Consell Esportiu del Baix Camp of Tarragona. “The primary objective of the project - explains Roberto Rinaldi, Director of UISP Ciriè Settimo Chivasso and also Head of International Projects - is to spread this good practice at a European level. The aim is to experience the French experience in other countries as well, then creating a methodological manual that can be used by teachers from all over Europe ". VALUES also addresses multiple priorities of the Erasmus + program: from the European Green Deal to achieving climate neutrality in Europe by 2050; to encourage participation in sport and physical activities, to promote education through them. "The project also intends to contribute to the following objectives of the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development: Objective 3, to ensure a healthy life and promote well-being for all at all ages; Objective 4, to ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all; Goal 5, to achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls "continues Rinaldi. A project of great social impact, which also goes to answer some of the questions that arise at the moment. What tools, what forms of communication can be used, in a historical period in which we see the reappearance and strengthening of denial? And above all, how can the years of the War and the Resistance be told in the instant in which - for personal reasons - the witnesses and the protagonists of those events will pass away?
